Position Title: Math Modeler
Department: Simulations
Reports To: Practice Head – Simulations

Position Purpose:
Tata Interactive Systems requires individuals to construct mathematical models for Simulation Based Learning-Objects (SimBLs).

A SimBL is an interactive case study, where the student practices the concepts covered in the MBA curriculum in a fail-safe environment. Developing a SimBL entails creating an industry (and the corresponding data around the industry) and a company within that (with the corresponding information). The user of the SimBL is a manager in this company and makes decisions to take the company forward, optimizing opportunities and negating threats. The decisions made by the user at each stage will have to reflect in the performance of the company quantitatively. The role of the modeler is to create the structural backbone and the corresponding data.

Responsibilities:
The modeler will work along with a multi-disciplinary team of content developers, visual designers, and software designers to create SimBLs. In the long-term, the modeler can also transition into a Project Management role, managing the complete execution of e-learning projects at Tata Interactive Systems.

• Provide expertise on the subject and act as a consultant in the creation of the SimBL.
• Thoroughly analyze the industry being simulated and create a mathematical model that reflects the industry.
• Ensure that the SimBL is a reflection of reality in the market place.
• Manage the team of developers and oversee the final reproduction of the mathematical model into a working SimBL.

Position Requirements:

Academic Qualifications

• MBA or a masters in business-related subjects
• Engg preferable but not essential

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Essential

• A sharp understanding of business subjects and an analytical approach.
• A systems thinking approach to problem solving
• Experienced in using the more sophisticated features and functionalities of Microsoft® Excel®

Preferred

• An ability to write Visual Basic code

Experience:

• 2-3 yrs of experience in the areas of econometric modeling, financial modeling

Career Progression:

• In the long-term, the modeler can also transition into a Project Management role, managing the complete execution of e-learning projects at Tata Interactive Systems.
