Job Description:

• Joins development teams during the design phase of the development cycle in order to gain an understanding of the project technical solution.
• Contributes to the completion of low-level design, documents, develops and unit tests code, and adheres to coding, design and architectural standards.
• Supports the software development lifecycle by working with feature team members to deliver estimates, establish and tune the application and its architecture, communicate project status, fix defects and implement change control requests as quickly as possible.

Desired Profile:

• Conduct full range of software development tasks including design, implementation, unit testing, debugging and documentation for development initiatives, change control requests and defect correction.
• Participate in feature team meetings, provide estimates and status reports.
• Adhering to schedules where the launch date has been established (i.e. controlling scope) .
• Adapting to process changes as the organization evolves.
• Acquire a solid understanding of the overall architecture and design of the LMS in a timely manner.
• The Software Engineer Level I - EKI is expected to participate in activities with project teams working in the US which creates communication and cultural complexities due to distance and timezones.
  

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of software engineering principles and practices
• Basic understanding of standard design patterns
• Advanced skills in software programming languages and paradigms (Java, J2EE)
• Intermediate skills in SQL and database concepts
• Solid communication skills
• Self directed - requires minimal oversight
  

Required:

• 4-year college degree in Computer Science.
• 2+ years working as a software engineer in a web development capacity.
